You can rent a canoe at Jack’s Boat Rental (tel. 508/349-9808; www.jacksboatrental.com), located on either Cliff Pond or Flax Pond, within Nickerson State Park. Kayaks cost $25 a half-hour and $15 for each additional half-hour. There are also kayaks, paddleboats, surf bikes, and Sunfish sailboats to rent.
What is the prettiest part of the Cape Cod Rail Trail?
The trail is 22 miles from Dennis to Wellfleet; 44 miles roundtrip. The trail was not as scenic as we’d hoped; the most scenic part is the Harwich section, with lovely cranberry bogs and ponds. One of the ponds has a sandy beach with picnic tables; that is as much beach as you will see on the rail trail.
How long does it take to ride the Cape Cod Rail Trail?
The CCRT begins in S. Dennis and ends in S. Wellfleet, and you can ride it out and back in one day (44 miles round trip). This itinerary begins at the western trailhead, since some of the more scenic spots are at the farther end and make for nice resting spots, although you could easily do the trail in reverse.
